[ASK/REPLY] #16

Hi Bummie, do you think "Lucky With You" was an unexpected success? Was it a surprise that it did so well? I didn't see JY doing any promotion for it, while he did a lot of promotion for "My Dear Guardian". Are there comparable numbers for both dramas - "Lucky With You" & "My Dear Guardian" to see which one did better? Thanks!

REPLY: Ok I will make a small comparison basing on the data I collected and my knowledge.

First, "Lucky With You" (LWY) was broadcast on TV while "My Dear Guardian" (MDG) was just released on iQiYi - a movie watching online platform, so there would be differences in the range of audience and fame.

Second, I myself think that MDG was more well-known than LWY even though it was just aired online (TV series are usually supposed to have more popularity and views than web series). The average number of daily views of MDG was much higher, with about 75~82 million views per day compared to around 65-71 million views per day of LWY. MDG usually ranked top 2 and top 1 most watched web series of the day. Also, MDG usually reached more than 8000 points, even 9000, on iQiYi while the highest point of LWY was just more than 6500, and a series reaching more than 9000 points on iQiYi is usually considered pretty hot cuz iQiYi doesn't show the number of views.

However, LWY could reach a wider range of audience such as middle-aged and old people as they often prefer watching films on TV more. Its average rating (0.5 ~ 0.67%) wasn't very good, but not too bad either. In 2021, not many films on local TV channels could reach more than 1%.

Third, I guess another reason for the success of MDG is the chemistry and loveline of the main casts (Jingyu & Li Qin). There's no doubt that MDG had more romantic scenes and dramatic lovelines to attract female viewers than LWY in which there wasn't even a kiss scene. That's why JY and Li Qin promoted MDG together a lot (Weibo posts/ interactions/comments, interviews, magazine photoshoot, etc).

To conclude, even though MDG was more successful, I think LWY wasn't doing bad at all. LWY itself could still attract a considerable number of viewers of different ages, but it's just not as well-known as MDG.

[HINT][220305] JINGYU emphasizing 6 & 2 on his fandom anniversary?

• Note: 5 March this year is the 6th anniversary of Jingyu's fanclub and each year he usually posts something on Weibo to celebrate it.  1) On 220305, JY updated Weibo right at 06:06 pm  (It's impossible to schedule a Weibo post beforehand, so JY seemed to deliberately share this post right at the special time. And we all know how meaningful that number 6 is to YZ 😉) Also, on other previous anniversary days of his fanclub, JY had never paid attention to the posting time like that. Let's take a look at his old posts:  - His Weibo post at 0:04 on 4th March 2016 to mark the 'establishment' of his fanclub: - 1st anni was in 2017 but he didn't post anything on 5 March that year.  - 2nd anni (Weibo post at 14:45) - 3rd anni (Weibo post at 22:49) - 4th anni (Weibo post at 18:41) - 5th anni (Weibo post at 20:34) >> So yeah today isn't only the 6th anniversary of his fanclub but also the precious number 6 for him. 2)  Why did he even add an icon of a little su...

[HINT][210921] Mid-Autumn Festival

  1) Weizhou Studio weibo updated a video with a Whale & Meow font  Trans :"Limited nice surprise from @ZZ. There is a post-credits scene / Easter egg at the end of the video. Wish Baizhous a happy Mid-Autumn Festival." Okay so here's the surprise: the post-credit text wishing everyone a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival at the end of the video included a Whale and a Meow: This is a font in Meitu (a photo editing app) but ZZ Studio still used it even though they knew it would include a Whale??? I mean they must have already known that Whale represents Jingyu and posting such thing publicly would definitely make onlyfans go mad but they still did it lol.  2) ZZ and Jingyu weibo update  • Trans ZZ: " The full moon brings the full family, have you eaten mooncakes? Remember to be with your family. Wish everyone a happy Mid-autumn Festival." • Trans Jingyu: "Wish everyone a happy Mid-autumn Festival! Look at our film crew staff's big full moon #MidAutumnFestival...
